Finding Comfort in Pictures

It’s been about 10 weeks that I’ve been back in Iowa and even though I am starting to feel adjusted, there are still days that I wish I wasn’t here if I am completely honest. As someone that always likes to be on the go all the time, routine gets old fast. These days I wake up, go to class, go to work, work out (maybe…), do homework, go to bed. Rinse and repeat. Though I know I have a ton of exciting things to look forward to in the near future, they still sometimes feel very distant. I had never really experienced the post travel blues before but I find myself discussing it with friends quite frequently, especially those that were away as long as I was.

It’s funny because we mentally prepare ourselves so much before leaving for long amounts of time, but we never think about what it’s going to be like when we come home to real life. I have found that one way to cheer myself up on the days I feel down is to look at pictures. They bring a smile to my face and let me shortly relive the memory. Though you may just see a moment captured, I look at it and have flashbacks of what happened before and after it was taken. The crazy plane ride there, the meals shared that day, the laughter, the high from excitement; it all comes back. They say a picture is worth a thousand words and even though I hate cliche sayings, it’s really true.

I urge everybody to take pictures when they travel because they can be really comforting to look at later. I’m someone that’s really bad at it but am trying to get better. I wanted to share my favorite 10 pictures with you guys that make me really happy.
